Just found this news. All credit to theharadknight of OR. Sounds good and I'm really looking forward to these.

looking at my new WD (344) i notiuced that on the upcoming releases section at the back for the new 40k starter set there was also a LOTR heading with three new things under it...

the lord of the rings
9th August (released 20th september)
* Elrond master of rivendell.....9/8/08
* Gandalf (rivendell)...............9/8/08
* the three hunters.................9/8/08

first two fairly obvious but i was thinking that the hunters could be aragorn legolas and gimli after the amon hen part of the fellowship.

I think it's great that they release new models for the important characters. I think that Legolas TTT edition is the only really good model among the three hunters...

Except this will be the 12th/13th aragorn mini :p If they keep it up, you could make a decent sized Grey company army just using Aragorn minis and without repeating a mini Razz

Three Hunters...What do you guys think about it possibly being a diorama (as previously mentioned on TLA).

After all, you never get 3 hero models in a blister, and putting 3 models in a box set is a bit iffy, to say the least.

Also, all other dioramas so far have been 3 models or so, IIRC.

Hmm, that'd be interesting - I'd like that.

Otherwise, I simply have to ask: what's the point? By and large, you have one version, you have them all. Ther are exceptions, but 13 Aragorns? Give me strength...about 4-5 would have sufficed... Rolling Eyes

I think it probably will be a diorama and also SDJacksons GW staff said it was going to be a diorama. Let's hope this is correct Smile

According to Catsrule27 on TLA it will NOT be a diorama. I will probably say it won't then as he seems to be a very reliable source for this information as he's who told us their would be new minis of these.

Oh well, never mind. I'm just hoping that they've done a better job than with the other recent models!

Catsrule27 went to the Open Studio day and saw the minis firsthand, as did several other TLAers, who confrimed the new figures are just that...new figures...including Aragorn with a bow (seven years in the making Rolling Eyes ). Thats a nice welcome change from the other Aragorns we've seen Wink

Ah, but are the sculpts any good?? I('ve been very critical of the last latest models because of their, (I think) poor sculpting..

Not sure about them to be honest. Lovely Gandalf and the Three Hunters are quite nice but the Elrond isn't up to my expectations Confused
